I made these photographs in February 2007 in the Southern States of the USA, mainly in Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida.

On our way to Angola, Prison. It is the second largest penitentuary in the US with more than 5.000 inmates. I was surprised to see so many prisons on our journey. It seems to be like a very prosperous branch of economy in the US - and it is indeed.

While looking for Beryl "Black" Morrison we met many other people living in trailors right next to the prison. Most of them also work in Angola, Prison.

Near Angola, Prison we also visited Jacobs old friend Virginia Brown. Jacob really is a faithful friend and tries to visit his friends as often as he can. He always brings along people like me that love his work to meet them. It always is an exciting encounter for all.
As we visited Virginia she told us that her beloved husband died all of a sudden last year. We were really shocked as they had a beautiful marriage. Her husband Honoré used to work in Angola prison and has taken part as an actor in the movie: "Dead Man Walking" - where he leads Sean Penn to the execution.

Now Virginia has a hard time to make ends meet. And she even has to take care of her grandchildren. I played Monopoly with one of them: Tratoria. She was very good in Monopoly. I lost all my money and had to go to JAIL several times. I was happy that it was only that one in the game and not the real one right next to the trailor.
